Client Spotlight – Emily

Emily was a division I volleyball player who came into her education with very few injuries.

Sadly, this quickly changed as she suffered a significant knee injury her first year of school and required surgery. Because she was so tall, coming in at 6ft 2in, and due to her anatomical structure, her rehabilitation process took a bit longer than most. Despite this, she powered through and was able to play the rest of her years with little recurring issues.

What worked for Emily:

  • Following surgery, progressive rehabilitation focused on specific musculature (i.e. hamstrings, quadriceps, glutes)
  • IAMT to continue to break up scar tissue that was building throughout lower leg musculature
  • Ice massage to bring down swelling
  • E-stim to keep the pain down
  • Normatec boots as she progressed back into playing due to extreme soreness

Emily was devoted to getting better and even following her return to play, she continued to seek treatment as she knew how beneficial it was to keep her in tip-top condition.
