Dry Needling

Dry needling is a treatment that’s performed by skilled allied health care professionals who are certified in the procedure. In this process, a thin monofilament needle penetrates the skin and treats the underlying muscular trigger points that may be causing issues within the body.

The treatment itself is most often designed to ease muscular pain, though it has been linked to reducing some of the symptoms of chronic illness like ongoing joint pain and even migraine pain. It’s also important to point out that dry needling is a bit different than acupuncture, something that many people have heard of before.

Acupuncture is focused on the channeling theory and using points in the body to heal itself naturally while dry needling is a more scientific take on this concept using a strong stimulation on the muscles to get them to release effectively.

If you’re like me, the concept of having someone stick a needle into your body in an effort to relieve muscle tension or pain is something that was just beyond me. That was until my husband decided that Recovery Day should move forward with gaining our certification in dry needling.

We spent time doing our research, something we always promise to our clients, and decided to move forward with the process. Lo and behold, dry needling has become one of our most popular services and something that many of our clientele has started to request more frequently, it even helped ease my own migraines and the tension in my neck. Some of the most common side effects of the treatment are muscle fatigue and soreness that can last up to two days, none of which should interfere with your daily activities though.

Be sure to book your next recovery session with us and feel free to ask us any questions regarding our new service!
