Intern Experience: Week 1
Each week our interns will give their perspectives on what they experienced and learned that week in the Atheltic Training room.
As an intern at Recovery Day, I have had the incredible opportunity to experience myself in a field that is both enriching and transformative. My experience has made me realize how important wellness treatment can be for our overall health and happiness. From relaxing massages, every aspect of my internship has been an exploration of the essence of well-being. In this blog post, I will discuss some of the highlights of this week’s journey, as well as the benefits of learning about this exciting field. When I first started my internship, I was excited to learn but unsure what to expect. I had no idea that I was about to start a journey that would lead me to discover self-care and balance. This week I was able to demonstrate a flush massage on a client after cupping, as well as scrapping of the hamstring. I love the hands-on experience. We went over some anatomy and refreshed some of the glute muscles. Cupping is often used to treat pain, musculoskeletal injuries, headaches, migraines, neck pain, back pain, and more. I definitely recommend as I have tried it before. I was able to shadow on dry needling which is essential for relieving pain. I learned that it is a treatment that uses thin needles to stimulate trigger points in muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia to treat pain and movement issues. They also treat conditions such as headaches, neck pain, muscle spasms, and hip and knee pain. I am filled with gratitude for the experiences and insights I have gained this week and cannot wait to learn more in the weeks to come.
