Muscle Adhesions
Muscle adhesions, you know ‘em, you hate ‘em.
These adhesions are created from the fascia in the body, a thin casing of connective tissues that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin. Healthy fascia is smooth, slippery and flexible. When stressed, it tightens up.
Better known as knots, these muscle adhesions often feel worse the more you move, a side effect of the tightness that permeates from these spots. For some people, adhesions can worsen over time, causing the fascia to compress and contort the muscles it surrounds. This can result in hard, tender knots in the muscles, called trigger points. Recovery Day offers numerous tools and tricks to rid the body of these adhesions, including good, old-fashioned myofascial releases. But the key to this is, you have to continue to work them out otherwise they will just recreate, often in the same places.
