Recovery Day Client Spotlight – Keanu

Keanu is a long-standing athlete, starting from high school onward.

He competitively threw both discus and shotput at the collegiate level and since then, has focused himself on maintaining his level of fitness. Keanu has been involved with competitive bodybuilding for the past several years, even assisting other competitors as they prepare for a show through programming workouts and showcasing the nutrition needed to compete. Although he has aided others in preparing for a show, Keanu will be competing this upcoming weekend in his first show in competitive bodybuilding. He has been training for the past year in anticipation. This training not only included a vigorous lifting and nutrition schedule he also had to practice his posing. He noticed that his posterior musculature would not contract properly when posing and after looking into our services at Recovery Day, we were able to help him reach his full potential.

What Recovery Day Therapy worked for Keanu…

We initially started by cupping him; it worked well; however, cupping often can leave bruises. The way his body reacted to the cupping kept the bruises very dark for longer than what most last. Because of this, we wanted to make sure he wouldn’t be bruised for his show, and this led us to use instrument-assisted manual therapy (scraping) along with E-stim and heat to keep his muscles relaxed. This recovery plan allowed Keanu to contract his muscles easier and with less pain and feelings of a cramp.
